House music is one of the most popular kinds of electronic dance music. There are several styles of house music. Some popular sub-genres are deep house, progressive house, acid house, electro house, and tribal house.
House music began in Chicago in the early 1980s . DJs and local club-goers were the primary audience for this relatively noncommercial electronic dance music. Jesse Saunders’ 1984 single, “On & On ” is considered to be the first recorded house record. Mainstream record stores often did not carry this music. Artists such as Technotronic with “Pump Up The Jam ” and Robin S with “Show Me Love ” made house music mainstream in the 1990s. My personal favorite subgenre of house music is deep house. Deep house has a jazz-funk sound with a touch of soul. The track “The Conversation ” by Lil Louis & The World has this deep house sound I love. Tracks released by David Morales (house music DJ and producer) are another one of my favorites. Today, house music remains popular both underground and mainstream. Example mainstream artists of today are Calvin Harris and Swedish House Mafia. Here are some mainstream and underground house tracks.
