Party games are a fun way to get your guests to interact with each other. Party games are fun and entertaining for everyone.
Party Games
Elite Sound Studio does not provide the supplies and prizes for the games.
Baby Bottle Drinking Contest
Supplies:
Baby Bottles (one for each contestant)
Appropriate Beverage
Description:
Fill the baby bottle with four ounces of an appropriate beverage. The contestants line up in a row facing everyone at the party. When the music starts the players will drink from the baby bottle. The contestants will not be allowed to open the bottle. The first one to finish is the winner.
Balloon Stomp
Supplies:
Balloons (two for each contestant) with a string attached to it
Description:
All participants will get 2 balloons and tie one to each ankle. All players must stay in a designated area. When the music starts the players will try to pop the balloons of others while protecting their own. If you your balloons has been popped you are out. The winner will be the last person left with a balloon that has not been popped.
Cake Walk / Toy Walk
Supplies:
Cake for prizes
Floor Markers with numbers for the players to stand on
Bowl with numbers inside
Chalk (for outdoor game)
Description:
If the cake walk will be outdoors, you can use chalk to mark the ground with numbers. If the cake walk will be indoors or on grass, you will need to use floor markers with numbers. You can make your own floor markers using squares of cardboard and write the number on it. If you will be using floor markers, it is best to tape it down to the floor. You can use 8-12 floor markers. Have the same number of numbers in the bowl. Place the floor markers on the ground in a circle. The number of players cannot exceed the number of floor markers you have. For example, if you have 8 numbers on the ground, you can only have a max of 8 players. Participants start of by standing on a number. When the music starts, the participants walk around the circle on the floor numbers in one direction. When the music stops, the players stop on a number. A number is then chosen out of the bowl. The number that is chosen is the winner. If the number of participants is lower than the number of floor markers, it is possible to choose a number that no one is standing on. In that case another number will have to be drawn from the bowl.
Instead of a cake walk, how about a toy walk for the kids. Instead of winning a cake, you win a toy.
Dance Battle
We will select 2 songs for each battle round. Each round will only have 2 dancers battling each other. You can flip a coin to see who goes first. When the first song starts dancer 1 starts dancing for about a minute. Then dancer 2 dances to the same song when dancer 1 is done. When the second song starts dancer 1 starts dancing for about a minute. Then dancer 2 dances to the same song when dancer 1 is done. The winner is determined by assigned judge(s). There is a winner for every round, so be prepared to have a lot of prizes.
Dance Off (with a winner)
We will play a 30 second clip of a song for each contestant. There will be 2 to 3 rounds. The winner of round 1 and round 2 will dance again for the 3rd round. If we have the same winner for round 1 and 2, the 3rd round is not necessary. Either the crowd chooses the winner by cheering for their favorite dancer or assigned judge(s) chooses the winner. There could be more than one winner. Be prepared with extra prizes.
Dance Off (without a winner)
Everyone will gather together in a circle. We will play 2 to 3 songs. One person will dance in the middle and tap or point at the next person to dance in the middle. There is no winner, just dance off fun.
Freeze Dance
The object of the game is to dance while the music is on and to freeze when the music stops. First gather all the contestants on the dance floor. Explain the rules to them. Tell them to dance when the music starts. When the music stops they must freeze like a statue. A judge will eliminate anyone that moves while the music is off, from the game. Repeat this until you have 3 contestants left. You can end it here with 3 winners or keep going till you have one winner.
Frozen T-Shirt Contest
Supplies:
New Wet T-shirts that has been folded like a brick and frozen solid (one for each contestant)
Description:
This activity may be difficult for children under 12. I recommend this game for outdoor summer parties. Each contestant is handed a frozen t-shirt. Each player must do whatever it takes to put on the frozen t-shirt. The head and arms must be properly in the shirt. When the music starts, the players start to try and get that t-shirt on. The first one to put their shirt on wins.
Hot Potato / Musical Balloons
Supplies:
Object to pass around (potato, balloon, ball, etc.)
Description:
Gather all participants in a circle. When the music starts, each participant will pass the “hot potato” around until the music stops. When the music stops, the person holding the “hot potato” will be out of the game. Repeat this until you have one player left. That player is the winner.
Hula Hoop Contest
Supplies:
Hula Hoops (one for each contestant)
Description:
When the music starts, each player will spin the hula hoop around their waist. Whoever can last the longest is the winner. You can add challenges during the game play to try and eliminate some contestants. For example, you can tell the players to spin around or stand on one foot.
Limbo
Supplies:
Limbo Stick (we have a limbo stick, if one is needed)
Description:
Have 2 people hold the limbo stick. We will play Limbo Rock by Chubby Checker . The limbo stick will start high. All participants will go under the limbo stick by bending backwards with their backs facing the floor. After everyone has taken their turn, the stick will be lowered a little. The stick will go lower and lower after each round. The object is to be able to go under the limbo stick without touching the stick. The last limbo dancer remaining is the winner.
Lip Syncing Contest
Supplies:
List of Desired Songs
Judge(s)
Prizes (optional)
Description:
This contest requires preparation. The DJ will need to know the desired songs for the contest. It is best to choose songs that the participants know well enough to lip sync to. Typically, the contestants have practiced their piece prior to the contest. The DJ may play just a clip of the song (about a minute). After each contestant has performed their song, the assigned judge(s) or the crowd chooses the winner by cheering for their favorite performer as the DJ places his hand over the contestant’s head.
If you really want to make this activity a hit, provide the list of the songs to your guests prior to the party. Let them know that there will be a lip syncing contest with cool prizes. This will give those that want to participate a chance to practice.
Musical Chairs
Supplies:
Chairs (The number of chairs should be one less than the number of participants.)
Description:
Arrange the chairs in a circle. Another way to arrange the chairs would be in a line, alternating the way each chair is facing. When the music starts, the players move around the chairs. When the music stops, the players must quickly find a chair to sit on. One player will not find a seat and will be eliminated from the game. One chair will be removed for the next round. Repeat this until you are left with one player. This person will be the winner. To make the game more interesting, you can have the players move around the chairs in a different way for each round. For example, you can have the players dance, skip, run, or hop on one foot around the chairs.
Piñata
Supplies:
Piñata
Candy, Toy Stuffers, Money, and/or Large Confetti used to fill the Piñata
Rope
Piñata Stick
A place to hang the Piñata
1 person to hold and control the rope attached to the piñata
1 person in charge of passing the stick and blindfolding each participant
Blindfold (optional)
Plastic/paper bags to give to each participant to collect the piñata goodies (optional)
Extra candy and/or money to throw (optional)
Description:
The piñata can be hung from a tree or an overhead beam. One adult will hold the rope that’s attached to the piñata. Another adult will be in charge of passing the stick to the next child and blindfolding each participant. The children are lined up by height from smallest to biggest. The kids are blindfolded and spun around a few times before hitting the piñata. Small children are not blindfolded. For safety, all the other children must stay away from the hitter. Traditionally, Mexicans sing a piñata song ( Dale, Dale, Dale ) for breaking the piñata. Once the song is over, your turn is over. When your turn is over, run to the end of the line for a chance to hit the piñata again. If you do not know the song, we can play the piñata song for each turn. For added fun, you may pull the piñata up and down while the hitter is trying to hit the piñata. Each child takes a turn until the piñata has been broken. Once the piñata is broken, all the children are encouraged to rush for the treats. You may want to have some extra candy handy to throw into the game area to ensure each child has gotten candy.
Some piñatas have pull strings on it. These strings can be used to break open the piñata instead of hitting it. This option can be used for small children. You still need to hang the piñata. Each child takes a turn choosing a string to pull from the bottom of the piñata. One of those strings will release the goodies from the piñata.
