Here are some traditional Quinceanera activities. We will have you choose which activities you would like at your Quinceanera, using our Quinceanera questionnaire. Then we will send you a suggested Quinceanera reception timeline based on the information we have about your event. Elite Sound Studio’s DJ G-Tez is bilingual. He can make announcements in Spanish and English. Having a bilingual DJ can satisfy both your Spanish and English speaking guests.

The Quinceanera Entrance

A song is chosen for the Quinceanera entrance. The DJ will play the entrance music and make the introductions to start the activity. Traditionally, the Quinceanera entrance starts with the parents, the Godparents, the Quinceanera court, and then the Quinceanera and her main chambelan. This is can be elaborate or simple.

The Quinceanera Toast – Quinceanera Thank You Speech

This is the time for the Quinceanera to thank her guests for being part of this special day. The parents, Godparents, and others can be by the Quinceanera’s side so that they can also say a few special words.

The Crowning Ceremony – The Tiara Ceremony

The Quinceanera is crowned with a crown or tiara (corona). This symbolizes that the quinceanera is a princess in the eyes of God. A scepter may also be given at the same time. The scepter represents the Quinceanera’s acceptance of the responsibilities of being a woman. This ceremony can either take place at the church or reception.

The Shoe Ceremony – Changing of the Shoes

The father or mother of the Quinceanera changes her flat shoes to heels. This symbolizes her transition from a girl to a young lady.

The Last Doll – La Ultima muñeca

There are two ways the Last Doll ritual is done. One way this is done, the Quinceanera receives a Last Doll as her last childhood gift ususally from the father or mother. Another way this is done, the Quinceanera gives the Last Doll to a younger sibling or younger family member. During this activity, the birthday girl briefly dances with the doll.

Both ways both represent the same meaning. The last doll signifies that the birthday girl is moving on from childhood to being a young woman.

Father Daughter Dance

The Quinceanera has a special dance with her father. This symbolizes her first dance with her father as a young woman.

Mother Daughter Dance

The Quinceanera has a special dance with her mother. This symbolizes her first dance with her mother as a young woman.

The Group Waltz

The Group waltz is a choreographed waltz performed by the Quinceanera and her court.

Surprise Dance – Baile Sorpresa

This is a fun choreographed dance performed by the Quinceanera and her court. This dance is more casual compared to the group waltz. A fun option for this dance is at the end of this dance, the birthday girl and her court can grab guests to join in to get the party started.

Candle Lighting Ceremony

Over the years, this ceremony was inspired by the Sweet 16 and has become popular in quinceaneras. The candle lighting ceremony gives the opportunity for the quinceanera to honor her loved ones by dedicating 15 candles to her family and friends. The birthday girl calls up each candle lighter individually to light a candle. A special song is played that represents that person as they walk up to light a candle.

Cake Cutting

The Quinceanera and her parents cut the cake. Traditionally, the birthday girl takes a bite of the cake then cut it.
